Stella Boonshoft

December 21, 2013

I found her picture yesterday on the Internet, a picture of her in bikini. Stella, a fat girl who was called names and discouraged from a lot of people. They use to tell her lose weight to be more pretty. She challenged everyone by this picture, first of all, her self. Stella realized that she wants to live healthy not to be skinny. I had a look at her blog and got you a picture and few of her words:

2) I am in NO way encouraging unhealthy behaviors. All I am saying is that not everyone is built the same, not everyone who is healthy is thin, and not everyone who is thin is healthy. We live in a country where we have a HUGE drinking and drug problem and culture. We also have a huge eating disorder problem. Yet, I hear a LOT less about how to deal with those issues. I don’t think that telling people that no matter what they look like, they are worthy of respect, is somehow encouraging being unhealthy. I think what IS unhealthy is our attitude towards health and weight in this country. Anorexia KILLS PEOPLE EVERY DAY. Bullying KILLS PEOPLE EVERY DAY. Its clear that shaming people into losing weight doesn’t work. We need to have new attitudes on health, weight, and eating in order for our generation to live happy, full, healthy lives.

Being think or skinny is not usually healthy as she mentioned, how many thin people do you know who eat junk, or burn calories fast, or never work out?

This is great. I also wrote a brief post about Stella as well as the double standards in the discussion of weight. I wonder if you’d be interested in taking a look?

it refused to let me leave a comment, not sure why, but she is very brave and I really wonder why they keep talking about who lost weight or who gained, media is angry at itself and the world!
